If you’re responsible for a large estate with a drainage system running through it, you should consider getting your culverts unblocked now, while your land is still dry and hard enough to take the weight of a 32-tonne tanker and suction unit.

At this time of year, with our lorry mounted jetting and suction units, we can clear culverts without damaging wet surfaces or getting stuck in the mud.  But once the summer is over, you may realise too late that you’ve got a flooding problem and there’ll be no way for a large vehicle to gain access to the problem.

Top tips to avoid getting stuck in the mud

Here are our top tips for driving across muddy ground, if you can’t avoid it:

  • Don’t drive in another vehicle’s ruts, especially if made by taller tires than your own.
  • Momentum is important; don’t stop forward progress until you’ve reached firm ground and keep wheel speeds high.
  • If you can’t go forward any further, put your vehicle into reverse and back up to firmer ground in your own tracks to find a different route.
  • Carry the right tools in case you do get stuck: a shovel, a high-lift jack for getting traction-adding material under your wheels and new, good quality tow strops.

No job too sticky

Our lorry-mounted combination units are versatile. They have double tanks, a 120m jetting hose that can blast 70gallons of water per minute at 2000psi, to blast debris out of a culvert, and a 50m suction hose, so we can unblock and remove large amounts of standing water at the same time.

For really difficult to reach culverts, we do have a lightweight and agile solution; a trailer-mounted jetting unit which can still deal with most cleaning and unblocking jobs.

It can rain at any time of the day and night, so Drain and Sewer Services provide a 24-hour service to deal with emergencies whenever, and wherever, they occur.

We’ve been successfully unblocking drains, culverts and gullies for more than 50 years. Find out how we can help you, by calling us on 01252 312738 or email info@drainandsewer.co.uk
