The impact of sewage discharged into our seas or agricultural waste leaking into rivers are just recent examples of environmental damage incidents making the news headlines recently, including this report on the BBC News website.
This article highlights that we all have a responsibility and a role to play in protecting the environment. This responsibility is something we take very seriously at Drain and Sewer Services.
Maintaining the sewage system
Underneath our roads and streets and around our homes and businesses is an extensive and complex network of drains and the sewers. Much of it is aging and as the population grows, the strain on it is increasing.
Maintaining the system is imperative for ensuring that contaminated wastewater is removed and treated properly, or simply so that water can drain away from populated areas. This prevents damage to property and the other risks that flooding causes, as well as sewage and pollution leakages, not to mention the emotional toll on people.
Investing for the future
At Drains and Sewer services are we continually investing in our people and the latest technology to make sure we provide the services necessary to support the maintenance of sewage and drainage systems, and the national infrastructure that supports a cleaner environment, including:
- Pump station installation, inspection cleaning and maintenance
- Water mains installation and repairs
- Septic tank and cesspit emptying
- Waste-water removal
- Grease trap cleaning
The technology and equipment we invest in, such as our lorry mounted combination units, high-pressure jetting systems, water recycling technology and our CCTV robots that investigate damaged pipework without the need for initial excavation, all positively impact on the quality of our work while minimising harm to the environment.
Polluted water needs dealing with in accordance with Government regulations and guidelines, which are qualified to do, and we are proud to continue to play our part in protecting the environment.
